Social Responsibility

Unwavering Focus on Safety

STEP’s safety culture starts from the top, with strong leadership that sets clear expectations and empowers professionals to prioritize safety in all aspects of their work.

We provide comprehensive training and resources to ensure that our team members are equipped with the knowledge and skills to perform their jobs safely. STEP wants to create a collaborative environment where open communication and reporting of safety concerns are encouraged. We are dedicated to continuously improving our safety practices to protect our professionals, clients, and communities.

Proof points:

  • Safety is our first priority and first core value.
ASAP (Always Safe Always Professional) is practiced and reinforced each day.
  • In 2024, we achieved some of our strongest safety scores to date, with a 40% reduction in our Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) compared to 2023.
  • A key part of STEP’s progress this year was the company-wide launch of our Life-Saving Rules guide. While these principles have long been part of our safety framework, we turned them into everyday tools for decision-making. By integrating the Life-Saving Rules into pre-job planning, safety meetings, and field-level conversations, we made these rules more than policy - we made them personal.

Social Responsibility

Supporting our communities

We are committed to building long-lasting partnerships with our stakeholders, and to the well-being of our professionals, clients, and communities.

By giving back to local communities through charitable foundations, events, and activities that are aligned with our core values, we uphold our social commitment and create positive social impacts.

Proof points:

  • STEP has raised over $1.2M for charitable organizations throughout North America.
  • Since its inception, STEP professionals have raised more than $1 million for local charities through our annual Christmas Spirit Campaign. Over the six weeks leading up to Christmas, each STEP location organizes its own fundraising initiatives, choosing local charities and organizations. A significant portion of the donations are directed to food-related charities such as food banks and children's breakfast programs.
  • In 2024, STEP proudly partnered with Trican Well Service, Liberty Energy, and Element Technical Services for the second annual Pull for Wishes event in support of Make-A-Wish Canada. Held at McMahon Stadium in Calgary, the event brought members from the energy services sector together to raise over $140,000, which helps grant approximately 14 wishes for children with critical illnesses in Southern Alberta.
  • While our charitable events and initiatives represent just a small part of STEP’s broader community investment strategy, the success of our activities highlights the strong partnerships we have with vendors, and other industry partners, as well as the passion and competitive spirit that STEP professionals bring to everything they do.
